Easily one of my favorite summer 2k12 days so far :)
After playing the role of nurse for my sick mommy this morning, Jeremy picked me up. We then headed to the mall so I could buy a graduation present for a friend and I exposed him to Spencer’s and Hot Topic for his first time. He needed a second to take everything in but eventually managed to compose himself. After finding a graduation present we went to the food court to buy smoothies(which were amazing) and then window shopped/went into a few stores. Until it came close to the showtime for Moonrise Kingdom…which was showing at a theatre about 20 minutes away.
We got to THE RAVE(I’m still not exactly 100% used to the name change from The Ritz) at around 5:27 and the showtime was 5:25. oops. Luckily, we were still able to get tickets with 10 minutes to spare. Moonrise Kingdom was absolutely beautiful and I enjoyed every second. The soundtrack flowed great with the movie. I enjoyed the plot and the way it was filmed. At the end we stayed for the credits to discuss the film and some middle-aged woman actually went up to us and asked us for our opinion of the film. She was looking for a younger person’s perspective of things. Then, on our way out we were asked for our opinions again by some other woman. Once he dropped me off my house we stayed in the car for another half hour or so to chat and sign each other’s yearbooks. ‘twas nice.
Once I got home I was bombarded with questions by family members as to what I did, and other things. My mother then told me to go into my room because my uncle got me a present. I go into my room to find the box of a Kindle Fire sitting on my bed in a Best Buy bag. It was my graduation present. I flipped and thanked my uncle for being awesome and now here I am. 11:02pm. Laying in bed about to snooze off into a slumber while my Of Monsters and Men cd plays.
Set on an island off the coast of New England in the summer of 1965, Moonrise Kingdom tells the story of two twelve-year-olds who fall in love, make a secret pact, and run away together into the wilderness. As various authorities try to hunt them down, a violent storm is brewing off-shore — and the peaceful island community is turned upside down in more ways than anyone can handle. Bruce Willis plays the local sheriff. Edward Norton is a Khaki Scout troop leader. Bill Murray and Frances McDormand portray the young girl’s parents. The cast also includes Tilda Swinton, Jason Schwartzman, and Jared Gilman and Kara Hayward as the boy and girl. You need to go see this film by Wes Anderson. It’s pure eye candy.
Seeing this Friday with Jeremy, hopefully!
